Earth Wallpapers for Desktop — 16:9

9 images of Earth Wallpapers for Desktop (16:9) in high resolution. Free download, with the author and licence of every picture.

On a 27 inch monitor the same picture occupies twice the physical area, and the fine detail that looked good on a laptop starts to look soft. The images here are published wide enough to stay sharp at 2560 pixels, with a composition that fills a large panel without leaving dead space on either side.

This page gathers 9 images from the Earth Wallpapers collection, chosen because they are composed in portrait, the orientation the Desktop screen uses (16:9). Every one of them is taller than it is wide, so the system crops almost nothing when it fills the screen.

The full files run from 1920 × 1275 to 1920 × 1412 pixels, and every card states the exact ratio of its own picture so you can check the framing before downloading. Your Desktop runs at 2560 × 1440 pixels, so a larger file is scaled down with no visible loss.

The list includes, among others, Dramatic Views of Hurricane Florence from the International Space Station From 9 12, Cloudscape Over the Philippine Sea, Good Morning From the International Space Station, Rose Center for Earth and Space by Frederick Phineas and Sandra Priest, New York, 04003a.

All of the files are served from our own domain, which means they load fast, they can be indexed by Google Images and Bing Images, and they stay available even if the original source moves the file.

The images are ordered by how recently they were added rather than by popularity, which keeps the collection fresh and gives every single entry a chance to be discovered by search engines and by image browsers.
