Forest & Lake Wallpapers for Desktop — 16:9

21 images of Forest & Lake Wallpapers for Desktop (16:9) in high resolution. Free download, with the author and licence of every picture.

On a 27 inch monitor the same picture occupies twice the physical area, and the fine detail that looked good on a laptop starts to look soft. The images here are published wide enough to stay sharp at 2560 pixels, with a composition that fills a large panel without leaving dead space on either side.

This page gathers 21 images from the Forest & Lake Wallpapers collection, chosen because they are composed in portrait, the orientation the Desktop screen uses (16:9). Every one of them is taller than it is wide, so the system crops almost nothing when it fills the screen.

The full files run from 1920 × 1233 to 1920 × 1440 pixels, and every card states the exact ratio of its own picture so you can check the framing before downloading. Your Desktop runs at 2560 × 1440 pixels, so a larger file is scaled down with no visible loss.

The list includes, among others, Mistic Lake - Tree Valley Gap, BC, Mists rise from Lake Mendenhall behind a flooded meadow, Sunrise at the Seneca lake - New York - US, Sunrise over Seneca Lake - New York - US.

All of the files are served from our own domain, which means they load fast, they can be indexed by Google Images and Bing Images, and they stay available even if the original source moves the file.

The images are ordered by how recently they were added rather than by popularity, which keeps the collection fresh and gives every single entry a chance to be discovered by search engines and by image browsers.

How to set it

Set the image and then check the zoom level in your display settings. Most desktops scale a 2560 pixel image to fit exactly, which keeps the crop intact and avoids the softening you get from a stretched 1920 pixel file.

Styling tips

  • Avoid pictures with a hard subject right in the middle of the frame. On a large screen that is the one area that is always covered by the window you are working in.
  • In a video call, this works well as a virtual background if you keep the subject clear of the frame edges.
  • Pair it with a low-contrast wallpaper on your phone so that app icons remain readable over the busiest part of the image.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a watermark or a download limit?

No watermark, no account and no download limit. Open the picture, press the download button and the file is yours.

Can I use these images commercially?

Personal use is always allowed. For anything you sell, check the licence listed on each image: every picture shows its author and its exact licence.
